Our Philosophy

If you love horses you want to know all about them and want them to be happy. A happy horse is a horse who can really be and act like a horse. So the question is: What do horses exactly need? We tend to think as a human but a horse does not have the same needs as humans. A horse is an animal with instincts and needs. To answer this question we must put ourselves into the horse’s mind and lifestyle. First of all, horses are herd animals, so they need contact with other animals. Then the second important thing is movement, they need the ability to move and play around. A happy horse is a happy athlete! Horses do love to work with us. So how can we get the best out of our horse? By using the right training and train them in a way they understand what we want from them. That means we have to learn how to speak their language. Horses communicate through body language. It’s easy once you know a few things about it. Through body language, the trainer will ask, “Will you pay me the respect due to a herd leader and join and follow me?” The horse will respond with predictable herd behavior: by locking an ear on her, then by licking and chewing and dropping his head in a display of trust. The exchange concludes with the trainer adopting passive body language, turning her back on the horse and without eye contact, invites him to come close. Join-Up occurs when the animal willingly chooses to be with the human and walks toward her accepting her leadership and protection. This process of communication through behavior and body language and mutual concern and respect can be a valuable tool to strengthen all other work with horses.

We welcome you to come and visit our stables to meet our wonderful horses. Every horse has his or her own personality and they all have their own qualities and specialties. We brought some great horses from Holland. The Netherlands is the home of the world’s most successful sport-horse: the KWPN horse (Studbook of the Royal Dutch Sport Horse). The KWPN Horse is a Dutch-bred sport-horse with international appeal. It is willing, fearless, physically and mentally strong, and bred to perform at the highest level. It is also reliable, easy to handle, and pleasing to the eye.

At our stables, we provide the horses with their natural needs as much as we can. A horse is a herd animal and needs contact with other animals. A horse needs space and movement. Our horses have spacious paddocks in which they can interact with each other and play and move around. The stables are spacious and light, every stable has a fan to cool the horse down in the hot weather of Bali. The stables are very open so the horse can look around and interact with their neighbors. Our feeding program is customized by the fact that horses are herbivores and spend 60% of their day eating. This means that a horse constantly eats small bits of food that is rich in fibers. Their whole digestion system is based on this and it is very important that the horse can eat as many times a day as possible! It is very different from humans as they only tend to eat three times a day. We make sure the horse has access to roughage and get small portions of 4 times a day all completed by the right vitamins, minerals and extra nutrition customized to every horse’s needs and training schedule.

Our horses walk around barefooted. We believe that horses should move naturally. Horse hoofs are made to do so. The hoof and leg problems that domesticated horses so frequently experience are practically absent in the wild. The wild horse’s hoof mechanism works perfectly and as a result, they have hard hoofs, strong legs, and optimal blood circulation.
